Name: Scott Hayes
Location: West Auckland
Hi Scott, we hear this is not your first slammed vehicle.
I’ve had many low rides over the years, though prior to my accident a year ago the boys at West Coast Hoppers built me a sweet ’96 Toyota Hilux that layed frame, many thanks to Jase.
What was your motivation for bagging a new-school wagon?
I had not seen or heard of any ’05 Mazda wagons being airbagged and knew that model had potential.
How long have you been into the car scene?
Since I was a young fella cars have always interested me.
How do you find the scene in Auckland?
I would say solid, although it depends what you’re into, I guess. There are plenty of old-school and classic rides, which is what I am looking to build next.
What originally got you into cars?
I would say growing up around the speedway scene and car shows.
What do you most enjoy about your wagon?
The hand controls that allow me to drive; without these there would be no wagon.
Is there any particular scene that has influenced your mods?
Not so much. I like my rides to sit as close to the ground as possible, and air ride is a safe and legal way of doing so.
What makes a car cool?
I guess paint and wheels working with the body shape. Fabrication is also key.
What is your favourite NZPC cover car?
TYMBOM Mazda R100, Feb 2010.
What was the first car you owned?
BMW 318i 5-speed.
If you could own any car, what would it be, and why?
’63 Impala — what more can I say?
Would you like to thank anybody?
The boys at West Coast Hoppers. (Carl, Zahn and Jase) for another well-fabricated job.
