A week has passed and Christchurch continues to sift through the silt and rubble for loved ones, work colleagues, friends, and visitors to the Garden City - the earthquake didn’t discriminate on whose lives’ it changed.
The Prime Minister has asked all New Zealanders observe 2 minutes silence at 12.51pm – the exact time the 6.3 earthquake ripped through Christchurch – to remember those that lost their lives, I know I will be.
Many outside the area have also been affected with family living in Christchurch. My sister and mother live there, luckily they weren’t hurt. My sister is in one of the suburbs worst hit and has just got her power back on but still no running water, and has to answer the call of nature in her garden. It has been said by many, but my thoughts and prayers go out to the people of Christchurch, to those that have lost loved ones, that are still missing friends and family and those that have chosen to stay and rebuild their lives - again - from the ground up, you have my utmost respect.
