Hey all,
We are very lucky in this country. We have many beautiful places to camp, fish, hunt, ski, wine and dine ... and one place that has all of that, and more, is Queenstown!
Hubby and I were lucky enough to head down there this weekend and take part in the "Over The Top Rock" concert at Cecil Peak ...in a nutshell, we were going to be helicoptered up the mountain (thanks to "Over The Top" helicopters) with a bunch of others, and get treated to music from The Lynch Mob doing Pink Floyd ... all of this a mile above Queenstown! Unfortunately, mother nature had different ideas and the wind and cloud rolled in so we stayed on the ground ..and partied! ha!
The next day we had lunch right down by the lake and what is amazing about the place, I think, is there is a never ending supply of tourists/visitors walking by but all look relaxed. Hubby reckons its the sight of the Remarkables that is so overwhelming you just stand there and take it all in. And in some way it just chills people out.
Whatever it is, the mountains or the lake, Queenstown is a very, very special place, and it is by no means alone in being a place all New Zealanders should visit.
I always thought that slogan "Don't Leave Home till You've Seen the Country" was corny... but I now have to agree.
Thanks again to the great people we met at Jacks Point, The Rees, The Lynch Mob & Over the Top - you all Rock!
:)
