Incubus manager downplays Brandon Boyd's hiatus comments

The manager of Incubus has played down reports the rock band is set to take another lengthy hiatus, insisting the musicians just need a rest after constant touring.

The five-piece previously took an extended break in 2008, before regrouping the following year (2009), and frontman Brandon Boyd suggested they are ready to scale back commitments once again after completing a series of 2012 dates.

He told Billboard.com, "We have no plans, to tell you the truth, at the moment. I have been tinkering around, potentially, with a second solo record. That's probably the most likely scenario. But, as far as Incubus right now, we'll probably take another break. Hopefully it (their hiatus) won't be as long as before."

However, Incubus' manager, Steve Rennie, insists the comments have been taken out of context, and the band will just take a short rest before resuming work.

He tells CBS Local, "Incubus has always taken a bit of a break after making an album and touring in support of it. After they finish the... tour, they’ll have been on the road for a year and a half. Any band would need a break after that.

"Let's not get locked into the word 'hiatus'. They just need to get rejuvenated and inspired to make their next album. Bands like Incubus don't crank out music on a schedule. Taking time to work on other things only adds to what they can bring to the table when they regroup."
