Meeting one of my F1 hero's Damon Hill at Hampton Downs.
So there I was at Hampton Downs Raceway 2 weeks ago to meet former F1 World Champion Damon Hill. Amazing to meet him, the nicest guy. So I got a photo with him - and I really should have gone home then.... but the boys from the Toyota Racing Series offered me a ride in the Toyota 2 seater car! After my initial freakout I had to admit there was somethng tempting...
Next thing I'm climbing into the race suit - lacing up the slippers, adding the neck brace - the balaclava (incase I catch fire - GULP) the helmut...& getting strapped in - nailed to the car! Those cars go from zero to 220ks in seconds! Corners were terrifying! I was stoked to see the finish line - and when we idled backtoward the pit - the pit crew leapt out and said "once more around!! AGGHHHHHHH!!!

After that terrifying awesomeness - a romantic Valentines Weekend in Nelson with my husband was paradise...sigh...
