Lead singer of Midnight Youth, Jeremy Redmore, has quit the band.
In an announcement on his blog, linked to from his Facebook page, Redmore says he has chosed to "pave my own street, pack my own bags, strip myself naked and, importantly, sing my own song".
"Midnight Youth has, undoubtedly, given me some of the best years I will have in my life and I am well aware that I may never have the same kind of commercial success in a chosen field ever again," says Redmore.
"I will forever be indebted to the guys in the band and the people who supported and fell in love with the songs we created and gave me a stage to perform upon."
He says he is "well aware" he may never reach the commercial heights his old band did, but he wants to make a "fresh start".
"In order to do this, there is no doubt in my mind that I need to leave my band."
Midnight Youth's debut album The Brave Don't Run was released in 2009, and featured the hit singles 'The Letter' and 'All On Our Own'. The album went platinum, selling more than 15,000 copies.
Their second and final album, World Comes Calling, was released in 2011.
