ROGER FARRELLY
What It Takes - Aerosmith
Always been a fave, takes me back to the yr when i ruled life ..1990 7th form at katikati college,so many hit s off this album(pump) this one is my favourite ..I wish I could sing like this.
Don't Look Back in Anger - Oasis
This album (What's The Story, Morning Glory?) was like an epiphany for me. It's like all the stars aligned. I'd just met my now wife and we used to get home from the pub and stick this CD on. This song is probably the main reason I am now with her. I wish I could sing like this.
How Can We Be Lovers If We Can't Be Friends - Michael Bolton
Sure your saying "how gay" but I challenge anyone to listen to this and not be inspired to grow your hair like a deformed poodle. I would guarantee if you were in your car and this song came on you would start singing....or switch stations.
BRYCE CASEY
Gimme Shelter - The Rolling Stones
Just a smooth son of a bitch of a song, rock n roll. Also I love Leah Panapa's backing vocals, she nails that shit.
Rocket Queen - Guns N' Roses
So many reasons this is a great song. The multiple changes in it, the fact the girls moaning near the end are actually girls that the band recorded themselves having sex with - just so it would add authenticity. That is cool. Also the first tape I owned and the first band I saw live as a 12 year old. And I pumped my 3kg dumbbells to it with my shirt off as a kid.
The Voice - John Farnham
This song needs no explanation, just vote for it.
LEAH PANAPA
Lonely Boy - The Black Keys
A relatively new song, but off an awesome CD (El Camino) and I defy anyone that hears that beat not to want to dance! Check out the video and see the cool cat dancing through the whole song.
Back In Black - AC/DC
When we talk the Rock 1000, AC/DC has to be in there! It was hard picking one, but this song has a place in my heart because it was the first song my hubby played for me! (romantic..ha!) He still plays it regularly and now I find myself 'air guitaring' along to it whenever I hear it.
Forever Now - Cold Chisel
Speaks for itself! There are songs that will never age and will go down in the annals of great song writing...and this my friend is one of them! Jimmy Barnes at his best!
PAIGE WRIGHT
Any song by Soundgarden. Um, because Chris Cornell is a dreamboat!!
Red Hot Chili Peppers. Californication came out when i was I was in love with Anthony Keidis once. Until I read Scar Tissue and about all the drugs he took and sex he had....then I no longer liked him.
Pearl Jam - reminds me of when my older cousin bought their album when I was a kid. The whole family judged her. Grandpa was very upset and we all thought she was destined to be a dropkick as only bogans liked rock music. Oh how the tables have turned.
Nirvana - because Kurt Cobain was hot.
Foo Fighters - Cos Dave Grohl looks like he'd be a nice guy.
(Paige didn't totally grasp the concept that we were picking our favourite songs, not artists....but we'll forgive her.)
RICCARDO BALL
Rocket Queen - Guns N' Roses
What a way to end the greatest Rock debut ever - I could pick any song off of Appetite but I'll go with the epic finish.
Master of Puppets - Metallica
Was about 15 at a mates place and he'd just got this - he put it on and I couldn't believe my ears - changed music for me.
Cowboys From Hell - Pantera
Another WTF is this moment for my impressionable ears - I was all about Anthrax, Metallica, Megadeth, etc then I heard these guys - it was heavy, it had attitude and it had groove - the next step in the evolution of metal.
DUNCAN HEYDE
In no particular order:
Led Zep - Stairway to Heaven
Rise Against - Saviour
Tool - Sober
(Duncan Heyde. Man of few words.)
