Multi-platinum, Grammy Award-winning legends, Red Hot Chili Peppers, return to New Zealand in January 2013 for their first concerts in six years.
With their first show at Auckland’s Vector Arena on Monday, January 14 selling out in less than 2 hours, a second and final concert on Tuesday, January 15 was announced. Only allocated seating is now available for the final RHCP concert as general admission tickets are SOLD OUT.
Now, The Rock and Live Nation are ecstatic to introduce trailblazing singer, songwriter and guitarist extraordinaire Gary Clark Jr. as special guest for the Red Hot Chili Peppers New Zealand shows, completing the trifecta line-up along with LA based band OFF!
Gary Clark Jr, is on the cusp of blowing up big time internationally as he releases his full length debut album Blak and Blu this Friday, October 19, featuring the rock radio track 'Bright Lights'.
Gary Clark Jr. has performed at all of this year’s major music festivals including Bonnaroo, Coachella, Osheaga Festival, Sasquatch!, Lollapalooza, NOLA Jazz & Heritage Festival as well as performing both nights at Jay Z’s Labour Day weekend ‘Made in America Festival’ – the only artist invited to do so.
With a musically diverse live set, GCJ has received enormous critical praise and comparison to numerous legendary musicians;
“…may be the next Hendrix.” The New York Times
“Owing as much to Kurt Cobain and the Ramones as Buddy Guy and John Lee Hooker, indebted to hip-hop and psychedelia, his shape-shifting calling card EP is grounded in tradition while standing on the brink of change.” Rolling Stone USA
“Gary Clark Jr. cuts through a stunning blend of rock and soul. Clark can sing some sweet R&B, but at heart he’s a blistering blues-rock guitarist who’s about to blow up big.” NPR
Whether you’re a fan of the 1990s classics ‘Blood Sugar Sex Magik’ and ‘One Hot Minute’ that helped the alternative rock explosion of the grunge and punk influenced decade or the crispier, more mature and refined albums ‘Californication’ and ‘By The Way’ that saw the band reach their peak, the Red Hot Chili Peppers have fans of all ages.
The band’s recent single ‘Brendan’s Death Song’ follows on from ‘The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie’, and rock anthems ‘Under The Bridge’, ‘Give It Away’, ‘Suck My Kiss’, ‘Aeroplane’, ‘Rollercoaster’, ‘Scar Tissue’, ‘Californication’, ‘Slow Cheetah’ and so many more continue to blast through your speakers.
The Red Hot Chili Peppers, OFF! & Gary Clark Jr. two very special shows – just the ticket to your 2013 summer.
