My top 10 songs for The Rock 1000

Related

AUGUSTINO - Going Downtown
2003 - ONE DAY OVER
I used to manage this band – they are no more – but this song is one of my favorites. If we are running short of music - I’ll always play it last on a Friday evening – it’s got that Friday feel,

JUDAS PRIEST – Turbo Lover
1985 TURBO
This is one of those songs that makes me wanna get out on the motorway with the windows down and the volume up.

COLD CHISEL – My Baby
1980 EAST
This song sums up why I love Chisel so much – simple shuffle songs.

MUSE - Time is Running Out
ABSOLUTION
I reckon this is one song that proves why Muse are so big - both recordings - on album and performed live. It is epic.

MOTOCADE - Oldest Trick In The Book
2009 – TIGHTROPE HIGHWAY
Can’t beat the melodic progression of this song. This was when I started to really appreciate Motocade as the great musicians they are.

JIMI HENDRIX - Little Wing
1967 – AXIS BOLD AS LOVE
The best Jimi Hendrix song. I never liked the production of any other Hendrix songs – too thin – BUT (apparently) when it came to recording Little Wing Jimi labored over it for days – adding all kinds of overdubs and effects.

SRV & DOUBLE TROUBLE – Crossfire
1989 – IN STEP
Stevie Ray was the best blues guitarist ever – that’s all – even his big brother Jimmy (a great musician himself) acknowledged his brothers talents by placing his own career on-hold to manage his little Bro

WETA - Calling On
2000 - GEOGRAPHICA
One of the most understated bands and albums in NZ recording history.

WHITE ZOMBIE - More Human Than Human
2000 – ASTRO CREEP
Nobody can get as big and fat a sound as Rob Zombie can.

QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE –Make It Wich You
2007 – (5th) ERA VULGARIS
This is the sound The Stones should be going back to.

'More Human than Human' made it in, pretty high up too! Awesome stuff. I'm impressed with some of the new additions to the list from the other songs I love. It was great to hear 'Holy Wars' by Megadeth and also some Pantera with 'Cowboys From Hell'

Good on ya Bert. Good to see both Jimi & Priest making it in. You must of had a bit of influence. Be nice if In my darkest hour made it in. It is in my opinion the best megadeth song. But then, my opinion means shit

Yeh good to see some more obscure songs on here. I reckon the Rock shouldn't have the tick box to choose songs. Make people think! Would definitely make for a more interesting top 1000. I voted for In my Darkest Hour - Megadeth, Rime of the Ancient Mariner - Iron Maiden, Zombie Eaters - Faith No More among others, I'm pretty sure none of these will make the cut and be out voted by more radio friendly shit. As long as Enter Sandman doesn't win...good choices here tho!

QOTSA, Judas Priest, Jimi, & White Zombie all fantastic & well worthy. Its the more obscure songs that make a countdown what it is. Not all the songs that the sheep people vote for. "Duuurrr, I really like this song but i dont think anyone else would vote for it, so i'll vote for the foo fighters cos they'll definately get in. Then i'll sit round with my mates comparing & we'll of voted for the same songs so we'll all laugh & skull a beer & wank each others cocks."

Calling on is a brilliant song. More human than human is pretty good. Other than that you are clearly deaf.
