We’ve seen it all before: A boom-box-styled device, complete with average twin speakers and an iPod dock, ready to “revolutionise” the way you listen to music. This set of new releases from Pioneer, however, go a few steps further: Their latest line of A/V docks feature 2.1 speakers, HDMI, component video, and composite video out, and Bluetooth audio streaming.
“Pioneer has translated its expertise in home theatre to personal use with a new line of iPhone-compatible audio/video docks that are equipped to bring high quality audio to a new generation and meet their wide ranging lifestyle needs,” said Chris Walker, director of home entertainment business solutions group at Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc. The various models fit across the board to the needs of many, each variation with several notable features.
The HTD Series (XW-NAV1K-K) stands out as the most versatile and feature-rich: It offers a DVD/CD player, FM tuner, USB connectivity for external storage, CD-to-MP3 ripping, and “scaling of DVD video to 1080p near HD resolution” via HDMI.
Another worthy mention is the Duo Series System, featuring dual docking ports for two different iPods or iPhones and a Double Shuffle feature for continuous playback of music between the two players.
