Wellington’s Slipway receives resource consent – it’s skids time!

Today we received some good news for the NZ drift scene with the announcement that Wellington’s Slipway Facility has received its much-anticipated resource consent from Wellington City Council.

Slipway was originally built back in 1964 as an airstrip, but is now used as an venue for car clubs and driver training. It’s seen some drifting action too, with pro drivers like Mad Mike and JT Wharerau spinning wheels in anger on its tarmac.

Now that Wellington Council has come to the party and granted consent for the facility expect to hear plenty more about Slipway in the near future. The team at Slipway would like to thank all those who have supported what they’ve been doing especially the Harbour City Car Club, Darren from Drift Inc and Steve Watson from Long Gully who helped make it happen. Choice.
