Sick James Hetfield asks crowd if he should keep playing

Metallica 06/02/2017

You've got to hand it to Metallica's James Hetfield - he's one professional dude.

While playing a gig in Copenhagen's Royal Arena, the frontman stopped between songs to ask the crowd if he should stop, claiming they weren't on form due to his illness.

It’s not fair to you guys, man. You paid a lot of money to come see your favourite band and we don’t sound good.

Hetfield went on to ask the crowd if they want him to keep playing:
"I want to leave it up to you, man. Would you rather hear us sound better another time?”

But of course, when you're at a Metallica gig, there's no damn way you'd ask 'em to stop, so as the crowd cheered James on, he agreed to keep performing for his fans- which we have some mad respect for:

Okay, you asked for it. I’ll keep doing my best, all right? I appreciate you guys so much man, thank you for supporting.

Unfortunately, now Metallica have had to postpone their next gig due to James getting worse, but at least it's not for lack of trying. Here's their official statement:

Check out the footage of the band performing "Battery" that night to hear just how sick the poor bastard was.
