The Rock is excited to present an all-new, groundbreaking event combining motorcycle culture with classic rock music in one of the most scenic parts of NZ...
Kickdown Festival 2022
JANUARY 20TH-23RD 2022
If you like the sound of riding your motorcycle around the world-famous Coromandel Peninsula, cruising down Whangamata Main St in a bike show before rocking out to some legends in the Rock music scene, then THIS is the festival for you!
Oh, and did we mention just for taking part, you could win $10,000 or potentially $1,000,000 ?! (we know... WTF)
Here's the rundown...
The motorcycle side of the festival includes Ride the Loop around the Coromandel Peninsula on Friday 21st January. This 230km trip is known to be one of the best motorcycling touring routes in New Zealand, if not the world.
In a world first, each motorcycle will be fitted with a small electronic timer to record their time on the ride to the 100th of a second. But this isn't a race... At the entrants only private party after the ride, a random time will be drawn, and the rider(s) with the closest time will take home $10,000 (split if more than one winner). But that's not all - a 2nd random time will be drawn and if a rider's time matches EXACTLY to the 100th of a second then they will take home $1 million!
Saturday is the big one, with the Motorcycles assembled in the morning along the Esplanade next to Whangamata's famous surf beach. At 9:15am the Motorcycle Stampede begins with all 2000+ ,motorcycles parading into the closed Main St of Whangamata for the Classic Cover Downtown Bike Show. The public can enjoy the spectacle of the bikes on show, live music and trade displays amongst the best shopping on the Coromandel Peninsula with cafes and bars pumping.
After the Classic Cover Downtown Bike Show finishes at 2pm, the action shifts to Joe's Farm for the Kickdown Concert featuring a wicked lineup of Rock music heroes which you can check out below!
This is an R18 concert that anyone can buy tickets to and catch the free return bus from the Whangamata Rugby Grounds, or camp at the farm.
