Whangarei bloke rips beef from thieves' hands

A Whangarei butchery has shared footage of a shameless robbery attempt in which three young men tried to fill up baskets of meat before hoofing it.

"Tonight we had these 3 come to visit!" Tikipunga Fresh Foods said on Facebook.

"And an extra waiting outside to open the door back up. This was a planned attack!! The police are very interested in talking to these males. [sic]"

Co-owner Harley Roulston was serving a customer when he saw one of the young men enter the shop with his hood up, showing only his eyes.

"I walked over and next thing there's another two of them there and another guy outside standing there opening the automatic door for them," he told NZME.

"I blocked them off and called out to my business partner out the back who came running. They had enough of that and ran out."

They didn't get away with anything, and their images have now been shared online.
