'Doing it for the gram' has nearly cost one model her arm after being bitten by a shark in the Bahamas.
Katarina Zarutskie, a 19-year-old nursing student and model from Florida, was swimming with a group of nurse sharks at Staniel Cay marina in the Bahamas when one grabbed her arm and began dragging her underwater, reports NBC News.
She said she had seen others swimming with the animals last month and wanted to get a photo with the sharks for her Instagram, which has more than 13,000 followers.
Ms Zarutskie was not with a tour group when the incident happened, but jumped into the shark-infested waters after locals told her it was safe.
But it nearly ended badly when a reportedly 5-foot shark sunk its teeth into her arm.
"I was pulled underwater for a few seconds then ripped my wrist out of the shark's mouth as fast as I could," she told NBC News.
After calmly swimming to safety, Ms Zarutskie had her arm cleaned at the marina's clinic but later decided to fly home to Florida for further treatment.
While the model said she was fortunate to have her arm and life, she was worried a permanent scar from the incident could affect her modelling career.
The entire ordeal was captured in pictures by her boyfriend's father.
