Last night, Bruce Springsteen played at Christchurch's AMI Stadium on the eve of the anniversary for the 2011 earthquakes.
The Boss acknowledged the petition that Christchurch had been running to get him to play the city, and dedicated one of his most touching songs to the people who'd suffered in both the earthquakes and the recent Port Hills fires.

Quite a few years ago, I got a letter. A petition, actually... about a town that suffered an earthquake - and I was to come and play.
It took a while, but I'm glad we got here and got the chance to drive around and take a look at the city.
And I just want to say this now for all the folks that suffered in the earthquakes... I send this out with a lot of love and prayers. To all the emergency services who I know were working today to detain some of the fires outside of town. This is for those folks... and for all of you.
