Metallica's James Hetfield scores role in upcoming film about infamous serial killer Ted Bundy

James Hetfield has landed a role in the upcoming film Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil, and Vile, a movie centred around the notorious serial killer, rapist, burglar and necrophile; Ted Bundy.

Hetfield is playing the role of Officer Bob Hayward, who arrested Bundy in 1975 after pulling him over and discovering tools in the back of his car that linked him with burglary.

Director Joe Berlinger worked with Hetfield previously on the Metallica documentary Some Kind of Monster and thought Hetfield would be perfect for this role.

Loud Wire
reports on Joe Berlinger's thoughts behind his casting decision: “Having spent hundreds of hours behind the scenes with James and the rest of Metallica, I have experienced his charisma and powerful presence close up,”

“It seemed only natural that he would bring that same power and magnetism to a dramatic role, so when he agreed to my pitch that he be in the movie, I was thrilled.”

This isn't Hetfield's first rendezvous on screen, he's played himself and a narrator in pevious productions, but this will be his first dramatic role and we're looking forward to seeing the Metallica front man's acting chops.

The film is in it's early days of production but we'll keep you posted on the release date.
