Physical music sales outsell digital downloads for the first time in the US since 2011

Hipsters and their love for vinyl could well be changing the music game. The US' physical music sales beat digital downloads in 2017 - only by a wee 2% - but every sale counts, eh?

Don't get us wrong - streaming dominates, taking out 65% of overall music listenership.

And physical sales actually dropped 4% in 2017. However, thanks to the vinyl culture  physical music is declining slower than other formats - downloads were down a whopping 17%.

Meanwhile, vinyl sales saw a 10% increase in 2017, meaning physical music sales are kicking on, contrary to popular belief.
