WATCH: Nickelback debate gets political in U.S. Congress

The debate over Nickelback's rep has come up in one of the most unlikely places - U.S. Congress.

Republican Rodney Davis and Democrat Mark Pocan were arguing over an amendment when Pocan decided to take a stab at the Canadian rockers. Out of absolutely nowhere.

Pocan sited that only four out of 77,000 people were keen on the proposed changes, comparing that proportion to the amount fans the band had. Rough.

That's probably about the percent of people who think Nickelback is their favorite band in this country. It's pretty low, said Pocan.

He then looks at Davis adding: "Nickelback's your favourite band? I apologise to the gentelman."

See the clip bellow:

Davis, who admited to having a Nickelback track on his running playlist, was having none of it: "Why would you criticize one of the greatest bands of the '90's?"

When your country is run by Donald Trump, you'd think these guys would have a few more important things to work out...
