It's been a while since we've heard anything about the screen adaption of Green Day's American Idiot, and that's because it's looking like it won't be happening anymore.
In 2016, frontman Billie Joe Armstrong told NME that the screen adaption of their politically charged album was all go. He said "we’ve got a green light from HBO, and the script is currently going through a couple of rewrites here and there, so I’m not sure when exactly we’re going to start shooting, but it’s definitely all systems go at the moment."
The big screen adaption was confirmed to be happening back in 2013, and the script was being finalised in 2014.
But plans have obviously changed, as Armstrong recently told NME that all plans have been "pretty much scrapped". No real reasons have been said as to why.
So for now, fans will just have to settle with listening to their danceable new album, 'Father of all Motherf*ckers'.
