Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith confirms the band is working on an "exciting" new album

Rock News 04/05/2021

Some bloody good news for RHCP fans - and anyone who's just been deprived of new rock music for a wee while.

As reported by Loudwire, during an interview with New York's Q104.3, Chad Smith (aka Will Ferrell's doppelganger) was asked what's in store for the band with the music industry recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Smith said,

There's something coming. We're coming for you. I can say this — we're making a record, we're making new music and it's very exciting. I don't know when it's coming out, but we can't wait for people to hear it and we can't wait to perform for people, just like everybody else that really misses that experience.

How. Good.

It was five years ago when Red Hot Chili Peppers released their last album, The Getaway. A lot has changed since then, including Josh Klinghoffer leaving the band in 2019 and being replaced by original guitarist John Frusciante. This will be the band's first album with Frusciante since 2006's Stadium Arcadium.

Sounds good to us! Check out Chad Smith's full interview below.
