Foo Fighters have been selected as this year's recipient for the Global Icon Award at the 2021 MTV VMA's.
The Global Icon Award "celebrates an artist/band whose unparalleled career and continued impact and influence has maintained a unique level of global success in music and beyond."
The award has been a prestigious prize for many years at the MTV awards ceremony in Europe, but for the first time will be awarded in the United States.
This award has been shared by many other artists including Queen, Whitney Houston, Eminem, Green Day, and U2.
The band's twisty, black-and-white "Shame Shame" visual is up for three awards: Best Rock, Best Cinematography, and Best Choreography.
Their first VMA nomination was in 1996, and the last time the group took home an award was in 2011.
The 2021 MTV VMAs will air live on Monday, September 13 at 12 p.m. NZT from Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
