Kiwi mum gets death threats from trolls for taking her kids hunting

A central Otago mum-of-three is under fire for taking her kids hunting.

Wanaka resident Lucy Jaine, 29, claims she's even received death threats after sharing photos on social media of her children alongside dead animals.

She defended herself saying it's a great source of organic meat, the kids love the adventure and it's better they're outside than glued to screens.

"I've had a few death threats from people who just don't have any experience with hunting," she told Daily Mail Australia.

"Or maybe they are against animal cruelty. But I don't take it to heart."

"I just tell myself, 'That person must be going through something in their own life and I can't judge what I don't understand'. We make sure we respect the animal in the process."

"Some guy just said, 'I hope you die'. I obviously didn't respond. I hope he finds happiness."

"Be kind, everyone on this earth is especially doing their best."

Jaine said she began hunting when she met her partner Sharn.

"We love hunting and the outdoors. Pig hunting mainly, but we do it all and bring the kids along for the ride," she told the Daily Mail.

Jaine said it was "organic and sustainable" to hunt wild meat.

"I like that we can teach our children how to hunt their own food. The kids love the adventure."
