WATCH: Sony reveal first look at PlayStation 5

technology news 08/10/2020

Sony has recently shared a video tearing down the upcoming PlayStation 5 console's hardware - and it looks epic.

Sony Vice President and Head of Mechanical Design Yasuhiro Ootori is seen in the video detailing the internal components of the console, which is the best look we've seen of the PS5 so far.

The console, which has been under development for the last five years, has some impressive new features.

The console is designed so you can use it vertically or horizontally, with the entire rear designed to exhaust air out. Fans and catchers have also been put in place to vacuum out dust (how good?!).

The Blu-ray drive is easily removable, and there's easy access to the processor, memory and SSD sections.

Check out the rest of the features in the 7-minute-video up top.

The PS5 is set to release in NZ on November 12.
