The Red Hot Chilli Peppers have reunited with their old guitarist, John Frusciante, and played ‘Soul to Squeeze’ for the first time since 2007 - when Frusciante and the band parted ways.
The performance happened in Seville, Spain, where the legendary band is kicking off their ‘Global Stadium Tour’.
Fan footage from the gig shows the band still looking and sounding like rock stars, despite being much older geezers than they were in the 2000s.
Frusciante has now left and rejoined the LA band twice.
The first time, in 1992, was due to him being uncomfortable with the band’s meteoric rise to fame after ‘Blood Sugar Sex Magik’, falling out with other band members and a reported struggle with heroin addiction.
He then rejoined the band in 1998, after Flea visited him and requested he save the band, which was on the verge of breaking up.
‘Californication’ was released the next year and was (and still is) fucking awesome, reaching number one on the charts here in New Zealand.
Frusciante left again in ‘07, this time under better circumstances. The band was reportedly absolutely knackered from being rockstars and decided to take a break. Kiedis and Frusciante both used the time off to focus on family.
The guitarist then rejoined the band at the end of 2019.
Earlier this year, the band released their latest album ‘Unlimited Love’ which also reached number one here in the land of the long white cloud.
Frusciante has said that the band is sitting on 50 unreleased tracks - get 'em out fellas!
