Axl Rose dedicates Guns N’ Roses tour to 'our friend' Taylor Hawkins

"He was a great n’ always welcome part of touring these last few years!"

Axl Rose has dedicated the latest Guns N' Roses tour to fellow rock ‘n’ roll legend Taylor Hawkins

The legendary vocalist shared the sentiment with his 1 million-plus Twitter followers.

He called Hawkins’ death a “horrible thing” and said that seeing the Foo Fighters’ drummer was always a highlight of touring.

“Taylor was a really great guy and it was always great to see him!

“He was a great n’ always welcome part of touring these last few years!

“This is such a horrible thing and our hearts go out to his family, friends, bandmates, and everyone who loves him.”

Back in 2019, in a move that would have shaken the rock ‘n’ roll scene, Hawkins told Louder Sound that he came close to joining Guns N’ Roses.

“Axl was trying to get together a new version of ‘Guns N’ Roses’ and … they wanted to know if I would come in and try out or whatever. It was kind of otherworldly.”

Hawkins was tempted, but after wise words from Queen’s drummer Roger Taylor, he decided to stay. According to Hawkins, Taylor told him “I see you and Dave onstage and there’s something you can’t buy there”.

And so he stayed and became a legend in his own right, releasing several great albums with the Foo Fighters.

Axl’s post dedicating the tour to Hawkins also thanked fans and talked shit about Vladimir Putin.

The 60-year-old showed love to his fans that turned up to the band’s European tour before calling Putin a “callous, lying, murderous, little man with outdated ambitions and no regard for human life.”

Axl and Guns N’ Roses are coming to New Zealand in December of this year, check out all the info you need and grab tickets below!
