Metallica drops live EP with covers of Ozzy Osbourne, Beatles, Deep Purple and more

They covered Ozzy's 'Diary of a Madman' and its pretty, pretty sick

Iconic heavy metal band Metallica have released an EP of a live 2014 performance in which they covered songs by Ozzy OsbourneThe Beatles, Deep Purple, and Rare Earth. 

Ozzy was the concert’s guest of honour that night, so Metallica, ever the classy lot, ended their set with a cover of his ‘Diary of a Madman’. 

Metallica, who have previously said that Black Sabbath was a major influence on them, shared their admiration and respect for Ozzy in a statement:

The band also gave their own renditions of Rare Earth’s ‘I Just Want to Celebrate’, The Beatles’ ‘In My Life’, and Deep Purple’s ‘When a Blind Man Cries’.
