Magician David Blaine thought he had killed himself after one of his most infamous stunts went wrong.
Blaine shot himself in the mouth in front of a crowd of 20,000 at Las Vegas' MCM Grand Garden Arena, The Sun reports.
The incident was featured in the 43-year-old's show, Beyond Magic, broadcast on British entertainment channel E4.
The bullet catch trick he first performed in 2010 was the show's main event.
Blaine prepared for the trick by letting friends shoot him in the chest while wearing a bullet-proof vest.
He was then fitted with a special gum shield which holds a metal cup to catch the bullet.
Holding a rope attached to the rifle, Blaine lined himself up with the laser target pointing from the gun.
But the moment he pulled the trigger and the bullet hit his mouth, the shield shattered.
"I was sure the bullet went right through my head and that I was dead.
"Suddenly I became aware of the pain and it brought me back. At that moment I realised that the mouth guard had shattered again, and I was alive."
Incredibly Blaine only suffered a lacerated throat, and still plans to perform the trick on his upcoming tour.
