Gillette launch ad taking on male masculinity and lads online are not impressed

Gillette have received mixed reaction to their latest viral ad campaign taking on 'stereotypical masculinity' - but most lads commenting online aren't too happy about it.

In the ad, the razor company sites recent events like the #metoo movement to ask: 'Is this the best a man can get?"

"It's only by challenging ourselves to do more, that we can get closer to our best. To say the right thing, to act the right way," Gillette said in a statement. Fair enough, too.

But some lads aren't happy about the way the ad portrays bloke-like behaviour.

"Absolutely disgusted that you'd try and force an agenda like this on your clients, I am a man and I am better than what you're trying to tell me I am. I will not take moral advice and guidance from a razor!" wrote one viewer.

"Bullying and harassment aren't male-exclusive behaviors. Women do it too. So right off the bat, this commercial fails on the most basic level," another commented.

At time of publishing, the video on YouTube has over 400,000 dislikes and 120,000 likes.
