One of those behemoths is made up of nearly 2,000 pieces.

Lego fans are about to be bricked up this Star Wars day as there’s a whole bunch of new sets to celebrate a special occasion.

This May 4th, Lego Star Wars turns 25 and for their birthday they are introducing some new builds to their stores.  There will be seven new sets available from May 1st, all based on special moments and characters from the franchise and coming with a special anniversary plaque.

We're talking ships that can drop Lego bombs, droids that stand up by themselves, and detailed dioramas from memorable scenes.

The TIE Interceptor is an absolute behemoth of a build. It’s made up of 1,931 pieces and once it’s built, it’s 40 centimetres long. You also get a couple of minifigures and a stand to chuck it on.

Other cool-sounding bits include Darth Maul’s Sith Infiltrator set, which has two spring-loaded shooters so you can annoy everyone who comes within a 3-meter radius of you. If you frothed the prequels, the diorama set of the famous Podrace scene also looks sick as.

Head of product at Lego Star Wars Mike Ilacqua said he’s pumped to see not just the new builds in rotation but also what other creations fans come up with for the occasion.

“We are excited to continue our 25th-anniversary celebration with an exciting line-up of new sets, events, and experiences for fans to enjoy,” he said. “I’m looking forward to seeing how fans choose to celebrate all things LEGO Star Wars on this iconic day around the world.”
