Everyone knows Taylor Hawkins as the drummer from the legendary Foo Fighters.. (and Alanis Morissette 😂) but there was a time where even he questioned if he was going to be sticking with the band.

The Foos were on the road after the release of their third studio album There is Nothing Left to Lose when Hawkins got a call from someone representing Guns N' Roses.

This came shortly after Slash and Duff McKagan had left the band - “Axl was trying to get together a new version of Guns N’ Roses, and I think he was checking around for people,” Hawkins told Classic Rock . “They wanted to know if I would come in and try out or whatever. It was kind of otherworldly.”

It is thought that Taylor had considered the offer until he spoke to Queen's Roger Taylor - who had actually been asked to leave Queen before they had taken off and join a newly formed band with Ian Hunter and Mick Ronson. But “He couldn’t imagine being onstage and looking up and not seeing Freddie Mercury or Brian May in front of him,” Classic Rock reported.

Hawkins went on to say: “[He] said, ‘I see you and Dave onstage and there’s something you can’t buy there. There’s something between you guys that might not be there with Axl Rose.’ And he was right.”

Hawkins has just dropped a new solo album stacked with rock talent.

Bryce had a full chat with the rock legend about his new music, how Hawkins first joined the Foos, their next potential gig in New Zealand and much, much more which you can see here.
