The impact of COVID-19 continues to wreck havoc on the world, with a couple of New Zealand concerts announcing today that they will no longer be touring NZ.

Deftones and My Chemical Romance both announced today that they have postponed their upcoming New Zealand concerts, amid fears of the growing coronavirus pandemic.

In a press release from Deftones band management:

"It is with intense disappointment Fuzen, Storm The Gates and The Rock announce the Deftones New Zealand show, scheduled for Sunday March 15 at Trusts Arena in Auckland, is postponed.

Due to the cancellation of the Download Festival in Australia, all Deftones sideshows, including the Auckland headline show, have been postponed.

All existing tickets will remain valid for the new show, so please stay tuned while we work to reschedule the date. Patrons unable or unwilling to attend the new dates can choose a refund by clicking on the Refund button next to their Deftones ticket order in the My Orders section on Ticket Fairy.  Please go to bit.ly/DEFTONESAKL for more information.

We will email all remaining ticket holders with information on the rescheduled date as soon as this is available."

And from a press release sent out by My Chemical Romance's management:

"We regret to announce that My Chemical Romance will be postponing their New Zealand tour date.

Please see the below statement from the band:

"Currently, we are working on rescheduling the date for Auckland. Purchased tickets for the original date will be valid for the rescheduled dates. For those customers who wish to receive a refund, we will announce details of the refund process once we announce the rescheduled dates."

While this is disappointing news to many, it shouldn't really come as a surprise in the wake of many other international festivals and events pulling pin this week.

Coachella, Tomorrowland, SXSW and Ultra Music Festival have all either cancelled or postponed their events. Pearl Jam have postponed the US and Canadian dates of their Gigaton 2020 tour, and Green Day have cancelled the Asian stops of their Hella Mega Tour. And other artists like Madonna, Mariah Carey and Miley Cyrus have had to cancel some of their tours too.

Shit all round, really.

Are the concerts completely cancelled, or postponed for another date?
Deftones has been cancelled. My Chemical Romance has been postponed until November (date TBC).

Will I get a refund if I purchased a ticket?
It's best to visit the ticketing site you purchased your tickets from to check if refunds are available. For Deftones, visit ____ and for MCR, visit ______.

I bought flights and accommodation for this gig. What happens to that?
Contact your airline provider and accommodation to see what options you have.

What happens if I won a ticket off The Rock?
Unfortunately these tickets are void.

What about other upcoming rock concerts and events, have they been cancelled or postponed too?
At time of publishing this article, only Deftones and My Chemical Romance NZ concerts have been impacted. We are in close communications with concert promoters and artist management, and if anything new develops with any other artist we are bringing to the country, you will be first to know.
