"It is with great sadness that Foo Fighters confirm the cancellation of all upcoming tour dates in light of the staggering loss of our brother Taylor Hawkins," the band said in a statement.

"We're sorry for and share in the disappointment that we won't be seeing one another as planned. Instead, let's take this time to grieve, to heal, to pull our loved ones close, and to appreciate all the music and memories we’ve made together."

The Rock and Roll Hall of Famers were set to play an epic show at Auckland's Western Springs Stadium this December. All their other upcoming international tour dates have also been axed.

Paying tribute to Taylor, who was found dead in his hotel room in Colombia last week, Bryce from The Morning Rumble addressed what many Foo Fighters fans were wondering.

"I don't know what it means for the Foos now, no one does, it's all speculation. But it makes you appreciate that it can all be over in a second and not to take it for granted," he said.

The Foo Fighters post announcing the cancellation was immediately flooded with messages of support from fans who assured the band they understood.

"Take your time, we are here whether you continue on or not," one comment read.

"Don't be sorry for a thing, we’ll be here healing with you," said another.

"We understand, we support you, respect whatever decisions you make moving forward, and we’re with you. You’ve been here for us for 26 years. I’m so heartbroken about Taylor and am constantly thinking of all of you," a third fan wrote.

Others made kept an eye out for anyone behaving badly in response to the news, warning: "IF I SEE ANY OF Y'ALL GIVING THE BAND SHIT FOR THIS I SWEAR TO GOD."

Ticketholders for the NZ show will be contacted directly about refunds.
