Well, you can't argue with science.
A recent study has suggested that weed makes people less greedy, and more kind and empathetic.
The study, which was conducted by researchers at the University of New Mexico was recently published in Scientific Reports, where they observed 146 healthy university students between the ages of 18 to 25.
Scientists conducted psychology assessments on each of the young adults, to analyse their 'moral foundations.'
The study found that the participants who dabbled in the devil's lettuce had better scores in pro-social behaviours, like empathy. They also were found to have higher scores in moral decision making relating to harmlessness and fairness, compared to their non-smoking counterparts.
Lead author of the study Jacob Vigil told The Paper:
"To me, my observation is that cannabis tends to result from that kind of egocentric or perhaps, externally pressurised trajectory towards one that is more primal and one that is more concerned with humanity in a broader collective context.”
Vigil hopes the study will encourage people to think about medicinal cannabis use over the use of opioids.
