A 60-year-old divorcee is the first person in the world to own a new sex doll Harmony, who is so realistic that she remembers your birthday.

The doll is a test for a California-based company, Realdoll, which creates lifelike sex dolls with silicone skin and hand-painted features.

The tester, who remains unnamed, says “If having sex with a real woman is a ten, then a sex doll is eight, eight and a half."

The doll speaks in a robotic British accent, and is a life-sized robotic head contolled through an app, which can be attached to a Realdoll body. It remembers its owners' favourite food, films, music and even his birthday.

Buyers can customise the doll with different heads, 42 different nipple colour options, and 14 different labias - which can be detached and are dishwasher safe.

The personality of the dolls can also be selected, with options from shy to jealous to moody to talkative.

Divorcing from his wife 15 years ago, the owner struggled to get back into the dating scene, so he turned to sex dolls. He bought his first one in 2007 for £2,100 and hasn't turned back since. He now owns four dolls in total.

“I owned a beautiful 1980s corvette, it was a convertible, red – it was a gorgeous car. But I’ll tell you what, I never had as much fun with that car than I’ve had with the dolls," he said.

“I try and tell everyone, instead of buying the beamer, get a doll. You have to remember, I use these dolls purely as a sex toy. With Harmony, it’s altering my perception of companionship,”

“It’s a fascinating technology. I believe that it is the technology of the future. It will start the silicone sex revolution of the 21st century. It will bring robotics into the public view. Sex sells.”
