Here’s something we didn’t have on the cards for 2022.
Nickelback are currently going viral on TikTok, thanks to a bunch of Gen-z’s and Nickelback fans making thirst traps to their disco-inspired rock track 'She Keeps Me Up,' from their 2014 album No Fixed Address.
Yep, the band that the internet has loved to hate for over a decade, is now going viral on an app for a song they released eight years ago. Who would’ve thought?
The Nickelback trend sees users on TikTok using the song as a backing track, while they dance, pose and lip sync in their pyjamas, before transitioning into a, uhhh, more revealing outfit. The lyrics of the chorus 'Funky little monkey, she's a twisted trickster / Everybody wants to be the sister's mister' are used.
Thousands and thousands of videos of this trend have been uploaded to TikTok, some garnering over a million views - and Nickelback seem to be loving it.
Taking to twitter, the band’s official account posted four clips of women doing the trend, along with the caption: "Thanks for all the love for 'She Keeps Me Up.' That one was pretty unexpected”
Random huh? That's TikTok and 2022 for ya.
