Travis Barker is constantly trying to improve his drumming skills

Despite being a professional drummer for many years, the Blink-182 star plays the instrument daily during his time off because he believes he can still better himself.

He revealed to the Los Angeles Times that late Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins was baffled when he suggested playing together for fun shortly before Taylor died in March 2022.

"(Hawkins) was like, 'I'm not practicing. I'm already as good as I'm ever gonna get,'" Travis recalled. "Like, not f**king true. I told him, 'You're already a beast, and you're just gonna keep getting better.'"

The 47-year-old explained that while he can play drums with his non-dominant hand, he would like his left to be as strong as his right.

Travis often injuries his fingers or cuts himself onstage because he drums so vigorously. During a show in Manchester, England in October, his trousers ended up covered in blood because his knuckles kept scraping on the cymbals.

"It actually smelled like blood on stage," he remembered. "I was a little lightheaded."

The musician likes to remind himself of his hard work and refuses to let the drum technician clean the blood from his kit.

"I love seeing some grit, seeing the work," he explained. "It doesn't make me sad. It doesn't make me worried. I don't feel sorry for myself. I f**king love it."
