WATCH: Taylor Hawkins’ son Shane performs emotional ‘My Hero’ with Foo Fighters

There goes our hero.

There goes our hero.

During the Taylor Hawkins’ tribute gig over the weekend, Dave Grohl invited the late drummer’s 16-year-old son, Oliver Shane Hawkins, onstage to play drums with the band for ‘My Hero.’

“We have one more drummer that’s going to come up and play with us tonight. Let me tell you, I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone hit the drums as hard as this person,” Grohl said.

“But beyond that, he’s a member of our family… I think it makes sense that he’s going to come up and play with us tonight,” he continued, before introducing Shane on stage.

Shane then took the stage, and absolutely nailed the 1998 hit alongside his dad’s band.

Photos of Shane and his dad played on the back screen as the talented-teenager drummed his heart out. Grohl made sure to keep looking back at him, like the proud uncle he is.

The performance was absolutely incredible - we know that Taylor would be so, so proud.
