Shane van Gisbergen may have gone a little too hard during celebrations for his win in the Bathurst 1000 over the weekend.
The Kiwi Supercar star and his co-driver Garth Tander did bloody well to show up in an early morning appearance on Australia’s Today show, however, he didn’t last long in the live interview, exiting the screen just 20 seconds in to go and have a spew.
Van Gisbergen, who became a dual Bathurst 1000 champion on Sunday, tapped out in what looked to be an emergency dash to the bathroom, leaving Garth to continue the interview and give updates on Shane throughout.
"I understand how you feel after a big night," host Karl Stefanovic laughed. "He showed up for a short time, and now he's gone."
Karl later asked how Shane was doing after not returning for the interview.
Garth shared that the supercar driver was “coiled up in the fetal position, in a corner somewhere, so I’m not too sure that we’re going to hear from him anymore.”
We know too bloody well how that one goes, eh?

“It’s hard doing a thousand kms around here, but it was harder trying to get him up this morning,” Garth continued to crack a joke at Shane’s expense.
Karl then continued to praise Shane for showing up to appear on the breakfast show.
There was one last update on Shane’s status before the end of the interview and he unfortunately was “still no better.”

On Sunday, Van Gisbergen and Tander won at Bathurst for the second time. The Triple Eight duo gave Holden the perfect send-off on the renowned Red Lion's last dance around Mount Panarama.
In the biggest race of the year, Van Gisbergen continued his untouchable season by winning for the record-breaking 19th time in a row, shattering the previous milestone set by fellow Kiwi Scott McLaughlin in 2019.
It’s no surprise that the pair were more than dusty following their big win, I would be too!
