NZ is hosting the world premiere of a huge Marvel exhibition set to bring in over 175k fans

Marvel fans will be absolutely frothing this one.

New Zealand is set to become the centre of everything Marvel when we host the world premiere of a huge exhibition.

'Marvel: Earth’s Mightiest Exhibition' takes fans through the impact and 85-year history of the comic-book-company-turned-cinematic-sensation. Involving immersive installations, original Marvel comic & film artefacts, photo opportunities and interactive activities, it’s a dream museum/playground for Marvel fans.

Wellington’s newly opened Tākina Convention & Exhibition Centre will host the impressive expo from the 14th of December 2023 until the 28th of April 2024. The event is a world premiere expected to bring over 175,000 Marvel fans from around the world to Wellington.

Tory Whanau, the Mayor of Wellington, says Welly is ready for the opportunity to host the event, and keen to build on its reputation as a real player in the global film industry.

“Wellington is world-famous for its work on blockbuster films,” she says. And we are fiercely proud of our city being a UNESCO City of Film.”

“So, we are definitely primed and ready to welcome more than 175,000 people expected to flock to Marvel: Earth's Mightiest Exhibition. Bring it on.”

Wellington City Council member Anna Calver says the city will gain a lot from Marvel’s worldwide appeal.

“National and international visitors will be among the hundreds of thousands of people expected to visit the exhibition, which will benefit retail, tourism, hospitality and accommodation providers,” she says.

“Tākina is a world-class venue - we’re excited about our city's potential to host exhibitions of this calibre and put Wellington on the world stage.”

One of the biggest entertainment entities in the world choosing an NZ city to host such an exhibition goes to show the Kiwi reputation for putting on a good time is growing and growing.

If their next move is adding a Kiwi superhero to cheer for in the MCU, sheesh, the whole country would become Marvel fanatics.
