Sublime perform ‘Romeo’ for first time in 25 years, continuing legacy with Bradley Nowell's son

Their Coachella set was "top tier".

Sublime smashed it out of the park at Coachella this year, dusting off their '91 track 'Romeo' after a whopping 25 years.

The legends kicked it hard from '88 to '96 until their frontman Bradley Nowell died at just 28 due to an overdose.

Cut to this year's Coachella, and Nowell's son, Jakob, took centre stage with the original crew of Bud Gaugh and Eric Wilson in tow. He’s now the same age his father was when he passed away.

'Romeo' made its epic return, with Jakob noting the song “has not been played in like 100 years.”

Variety reports Jakob played with his father’s custom guitar and Gaugh played with his signature green drum kit. This marks the first time since the last Sublime tour in 1996 that both instruments have shared the stage.

To wrap up their set, the band finished with their 1997 hit ‘Santeria’, before Jakob left the stage saying: “I love you dad. Thank you” with his hand pointing up to the sky.

Fans were stoked to see the band back at it, with tweets shouting out Jakob for continuing what his dad left behind.

“Take a bow, Jakob Nowell. Your pops is really proud,” wrote one fan.

Another said: “Jakob Nowell is exactly what Sublime needed. Continues Bradley’s legacy.”

"Jakob Nowell’s debut as lead singer of sublime at Coachella is top tier," added a third.

A truly incredible moment all ‘round for the Sublime crew.
