One of the great stories of hope.
In July last year, there wasn’t a dry eye in the studio after we talked to a listener named Brendan, who was needing to spend upwards of $50,000 for each round of his unfunded, yet life-extending cancer treatment.
Following the emotional chat, thousands of donations poured in from Rock listeners around the country, bringing his Give A Little page up to over $50,000. This meant Brendan could undergo another round of treatment and extend his time with his beloved family.
Yesterday (March 22), Brendan texted Producer Ryan to share an incredible update and a thank you to The Rock listeners who donated.
Thanks to The Rock listeners who donated, Brendan says there is now “almost no sign of the cancer” - that is some incredible stuff.
In the text, Brendan wrote:
“Not sure if you'll remember me, but last year you amazing people helped me raise some money for my fight against cancer. Because of your efforts I have been receiving the treatment I needed to prolong my time on the world.
“Today I had an appointment with my oncologist, and scans have showed there is now almost NO sign of the cancer. Because of your efforts I'm winning, we can't say cured but, wow looks like I'm going to be here for a bit longer yet.
“I still need to keep going with the treatment to keep the cancer at bay. But thank you, thank you all so very much. I wish I could hug each and every one of you and the listeners that gave money. keep up your awesome work, the world needs people like you all!!”
