Get your best white makeup ready, Kiwis - extreme metal band Cradle of Filth are heading to New Zealand.

The English band is playing the entirety of their album Cruelty and the Beast at Auckland's Powerstation as part of their Australian tour.

The band says it will be only time fans get the chance to hear their concept album masterpiece live, "executed with perfection. Creative, intelligent, shocking, written brilliantly and played expertly."

Cradle of Filth last grabbed headlines in New Zealand when one of the their T-shirts was banned in 2008 by the Chief Censor "because it fuses religion with the most aggressive, misogynistic word in the English language, with sexual activity depicted on the front that implies even celibate women can not resist sex".

The shirt featured an image of a nun in a compromising position and offensive language directed at Christianity's holiest figure, Jesus Christ.
