We love a good story where an anonymous internet tough guy gets called out on his shit.
This is one of those stories, and it features none other than rock legend and Rage Against The Machine guitarist, Tom Morello.
As if you weren't aware, RATM is one of the most politically-fuelled rock bands to exist, with many much of their music attacking corporate America, cultural imperialism, and government oppression. The band its individual members participated in political protests and other activism throughout their existence, with the band seeing its music as a channel to spread their ideas.
Well, this Instagram user @davez67 didn't get the memo, because on one of Morello's posts he commented "another successful musician instantly becomes a political expert".
To which Morello replied:
"One does not have to be an honours grad in political science from Harvard University to recognise the unethical and inhumane nature of this administration but well, I happen to be an honours grad in political science from Harvard University, so I can confirm that for you."
Morello posted the interaction to his Twitter feed, with the caption "like shooting fish in a barrel". The tweet has been favourited 292,000 times and retweeted 44K times.
Cue the Bombtrack music because that was a BURN.
Some of you may be thinking - this is an old story, right? You would be correct. This comment reply is from a few years ago, but Morello reshared it to his Twitter a few days ago obviously with the civil unrest happening across America at the moment.
