WATCH: Trailer for Game of Thrones prequel 'House of the Dragon' has just dropped

Based on George R.R. Martin’s 'Fire & Blood,' the series is set 200 years before the events of GOT.

HBO have just dropped the first teaser trailer for House of the Dragon, the upcoming Game of Thrones prequel.

Based on George R.R. Martin’s book 'Fire & Blood,' the series is set 200 years before the events of GOT. It tells the story of House Targaryen and the civil war between Aegon Targaryen and Rhaenyra for control over the Seven Kingdoms.

The series is starring Rhys Ifans, Olivia Cooke, Paddy Considine, Emma D’Arcy, Eve Best and Matt Smith, and many more.

We know the final season of Game of Thrones was pretty underwhelming, but we've got high hopes for this series.

They've poured an estimated $20 million into each episode, compared to the $15 million per episode for the final GOT series, Variety reports.

The ten-episode-series is set to premiere in New Zealand on Neon and Sky’s SoHo channel on Monday 22 August.
