Trailer drops for ‘Cocaine Bear’ movie - a true story about a bear on a helluva lot of coke

No plot twists in this one mate.

If you've ever wanted to watch a bear go on a cocaine-fuelled rampage, we've got some good news.

The trailer for the Elizabeth Banks directed movie ‘Cocaine Bear’ dropped today and it looks hectic, entertaining, and like a bit of stupid fun - exactly what a movie about a terrifying animal on coke should look like.

I don’t know if I’m disappointed or ecstatic that it’s based on a true story. If someone had just thought up the plot of this movie themselves it would be mad respect, but the true story is so crazy it’s worth a read.

Back in 1985 Thomas Anderson, a drug dealer, was avoiding the cops while piloting a plane. During the evasion, he decided to drop a whole bunch of the blow he was smuggling.

Anderson jumped off that plane and died that day, but our titular bear would shine into the national (US) spotlight. As it turns out, a bag containing an estimated 75 lbs (34kgs) of cocaine stored in 40 plastic containers landed close enough to an innocent American black bear.

We know this because the bear was later, sadly, found dead by the plastic containers, which had all been torn open. Eventually, a medical examiner found that Cocaine Bear's stomach was "literally packed to the brim with cocaine", as reported by BackPacker.

Old mate is now up on display in Lexington, Kentucky, U S of A baby.

Besides Elizabeth Banks as director, the movie has a few big names that make it a promising draw. It is Ray Liotta’s first posthumous movie appearance since the ‘Goodfellas’ star passed in May of this year. Kristofer Hivju who played Free Folk Tormund in ‘Game of Thrones’ will have to worry about the coked-up grizzly. As will Jessie Tyler Ferguson, who portrayed Mitchell in ‘Modern Family’.

It’s set to come out on February 24th 2023.
