Shane Hawkins wins ‘Drum Performance of the Year’ for Taylor Hawkins tribute gigs

He took out the award at the annual Drumeo Awards.

F*ck yes, Shane.

Taylor Hawkins’ sixteen-year-old son Shane Hawkins has taken out the ‘Drum Performance of the Year’ award at the annual Drumeo awards.

Drumeo, which is an online drum lesson platform, launched its first awards night in 2021, with the aim to celebrate drummers who have made the biggest impact in the year.

For the 2022 Drumeo Awards, voting opened last December and featured 75 different drummers from a total of 16 different countries, with 15 publicly-voted categories.

Shane was given the ‘Drum Performance of the Year’ award for his “legendary, must-watch” performance alongside Foo Fighters at the London and LA tribute gigs for Shane’s old man.

Good shit Shane - keep making your Dad proud.

Meanwhile, Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Chad Smith took out the big ‘Drummer of the Year’ award. After putting out two new RHCP albums in 2022, plus appearing on other artists' new albums like Ozzy Osboune’s and Iggy Pop’s, we reckon he deserves it.

Blink-182’s Travis Barker also took home an award, for ‘Best Rock Drummer,’ due to his work with the likes of Machine Gun Kelly, Avril Lavigne and of course, Blink-182.

The Drumeo Awards took place on January 27th, and was all live streamed which you can watch above.
