‘Epic experience': Nick 'The Honey Badger' Cummins got bitten by a snake and frothed it

"That was awesome."

Nick ‘The Honey Badger’ Cummins got bitten by a snake and frothed it. Would expect nothing less of the international rugby player/The Bachelor star/deadset legend.

The 35-year-old is part of the latest season of ‘I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here Australia’. In the show a bunch of recognisable public figures hang out in a jungle, void of contemporary comforts, and complete challenges to earn medals and luxuries.

Cummins got involved in a challenge that involved chucking your hand in the same cage as a snake for thirty seconds, so his team could win some food. It’s not a venomous snake, but it’s still an unfriendly python with some gnarly fangs. The Honey Badger can be seen visibly shaking while his hand is at the mercy of the resting reptile.

Understandably grimacing as the snake is latching onto his hand, blood flowing, Cummins actually said he enjoyed the experience after it happened.

“That was intense man,” he tells host Chris Brown (not that Chris Brown) before cracking up. “What an epic experience though. That was awesome.”

A medic gave Cummins the alright, and even got a joke off himself, making the most of his limited TV time.

"He's alright. I thought his skin might have been a bit tougher being a honey badger.”

Honey badgers and snakes beefing is nothing new. In 2018 a feud between the two animals secured a place in internet lore after it went viral.

The video, posted by The Smithsonian on YouTube, shows a close-up, slow-mo fight to the death, with both the reptile and mammal going for the other’s head. It’s racked up 22 million views since it went live five years ago and it really is some good viewing.

Hate to put Cummins in this position, but there needs to be a human honey badger vs animal honey badger fight, and soon.
