Jack Black’s new Mario Bros movie song ‘Peaches’ is glorious AND eligible for an Oscar

Look, it's no 'Fk Her Gently', but any love song from Mr Black is one we can get behind (not like that, ya dirty dog).

Jack Black's brand new Bowser song 'Peaches' from the Mario Bros. Movie could be in the running for an Oscar - how fkn good?

Since its release just 11 days ago the official music video has over 16 million views on YouTube alone and ranks number seven in trending for music.

The love song, featuring Jack tickling the keys on a peach-coloured piano, tells the story of Bowser's undying love for Princess Peach, the ruler of the Mushroom Kingdom.

It racked up over 6000 downloads and 5.8 million US streams in its first week, even reaching No. 83 on the Billboard Top 100.

If you haven't already rocked out to the song, you're gonna want to start by checking out the video, where Jack works in his classic Tenacious D vibrato and the leaps, bounds and breath-taking choreography we know and love the bastard for.

You might be thinking that Jack deserves that Oscar but that the sillier songs don't tend to scoop the statues. Never fear though, because 'Stu’s Song' by Ed Helms from The Hangover, 'Everything Is Awesome' from The Lego Movie and 'Blame Canada' from the South Park movie were all eligible for consideration in the Oscars original song category.

Also, lest we forget the time Jack Black and his buddy Will Ferrell introduced the Best Song category at the 2004 Oscars by singing 'Get Off The Stage' to the tune of the music they play when someone is rambling on too long. The man has the necessary credentials.
