The sequel to the 2018 film ‘The Meg’ is on its way, and the trailer looks farkin’ epic.
The first film, which is based on the novel Meg: A Novel of Deep Terror, followed a group of scientists who encountered a 23-metre-long megalodon shark while exploring the Pacific Ocean.
The film grossed over $530 million USD at the worldwide box office back in 2018, and was successful enough to get a sequel, Meg 2: The Trench.
The new trailer reveals this movie is gonna be even bigger and more brutal - showing a fight between a Megalodon shark and a tyrannosaurus rex - and things don’t look like they end well for the t-rex.
Meg 2: The Trench will follow Jason Statham and Wu Jing as they “lead a daring research team on an exploratory dive into the deepest depths of the ocean,” as per an official press release.
“Their voyage spirals into chaos when a malevolent mining operation threatens their mission and forces them into a high-stakes battle for survival.
“Pitted against colossal Megs and relentless environmental plunderers, our heroes must outrun, outsmart, and outswim their merciless predators in a pulse-pounding race against time.”
Meg 2: The Trench is set to hit cinemas August 4 - check out the gory trailer up top.
